Our Commitment

Sustainability & Ethics

At Aso Okè Atelier, sustainability isn't a marketing term — it's woven into every decision we make, from the thread we source to the communities we support.

Ethical Sourcing & Fair Trade

Every thread is sourced responsibly. We partner directly with cooperatives and thread suppliers who share our values — ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and transparent supply chains from fibre to finished fabric.

Preservation of Craftsmanship

Aso Okè weaving is a centuries-old tradition. We work exclusively with skilled artisan weavers — many of whom have inherited their craft across generations — paying premium rates that honour their expertise and keep this art form alive.

Natural Materials & Low Impact

We prioritise natural cotton and silk threads, and where possible, work with suppliers who use low-impact or plant-based dyes. Our fabrics are designed to last a lifetime — the opposite of fast fashion.

Minimal Waste Production

Narrow-strip weaving by nature produces very little off-cut waste. Offcuts from custom orders are repurposed into accessories and sample swatches, and our packaging is made from recycled or biodegradable materials.

Community Empowerment

A portion of every sale is reinvested into the weaving communities we work with — funding apprenticeship programmes for young weavers, supporting cooperative infrastructure, and sponsoring cultural festivals that celebrate Yoruba heritage.

Durability Over Disposability

Aso Okè is not a trend — it's an heirloom. By crafting fabric built to outlast decades and be passed down through families, we actively promote sustainable consumption and reject the throwaway culture of modern fashion.

Our Ongoing Pledge

We are not perfect, but we are committed to continuous improvement. Each year we set measurable targets — reducing our carbon footprint, increasing our community investment, and expanding our network of fairly-paid artisans. Sustainability is a journey, and we invite you to walk it with us.
